The question is what does it take to have one of these celestial beings or famous actresses wear one of your gowns and/or dresses. Every year, the award season gets a lot of fashion designers to start calling publicists and agents of well-known stars in an effort to give them free gifts or get them to wear their designs. According to various industry insiders, the day an actress gets nominated for the Golden Globes or Oscar Awards, she gets all kinds of offers of free merchandise. It is an industry wide phenomenon. Actresses who had a tough time affording some of the glamour are now being offered to choose among designers. Female nominees are bombarded with expensive gifts, flowers, wine and champagne congratulations. It is a little secret of the fashion industry's top designers. They know what to do to get a nominee's attention. That does not mean that the smaller designers are not trying to get some fashion favors. Their offers may be small in comparison with the deep pockets of the top fashion houses.
Many designers that the chances of putting a gown, dress on a Best or Supporting Actress nominee are very small. They do not lose faith. They start making phone calls in an effort to find somebody, anybody who will give them a chance. They will have to be very lucky to unseat the likes of Valentino, Oscar, Karl, Giorgio, Versace, Gucci etc. Competing against the heavyweight fashion houses is not always successful. Relations have been maintained for years in many cases. Year-round seductions are the name of the game. The huge fashion houses have the money and time to watch a young talent develop. By the time, an actress gets nominated for one of these awards, the designers have already poured thousands of dollars into the coffers of these actresses. So it makes sense that they would be loyal on such a grand stage. The fashion houses know these awards are the superbowl of publicity for their couture and high-end merchandise. It is a great opportunity to place their products in front of millions of viewers from all over the world. Many observers may start running rumors of insider deals or pay to play types of situation. Great couture design takes time and money. Designers want potential buyers to see their collections. They can choose to be picky too. Their best creations, gowns or dresses may only be shown to the A-list. Who does not want to be part of this list? Some publicists and stylists even go as far as to demand exclusivity from some designers. Those who accept the contract can only design for a specific client or actress. For example, it has been said that Carolina Herrera usually dresses Rene Zellweger. Are they in some type of relationship?

We saw a lot of pretty skin-baring black dresses. However, the pale dresses appeared to have outnumbered the black gowns. There were many white, bone and cream gowns on the red carpet. Kate Winslet donned a classic white strapless. Emily Blunt had an ivory vintage Herve Leger mermaid gown. Ellen Pompeo donned a Versace. Ali Lartner had on a Reem Acra Jersey. America Ferrera wore a royal purple gown designed by Brian Reyes. There were quite a few metallic gowns. Everyone will remember the dresses and gowns worn by Huffman, Sheryl Crow, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Jennifer Gardner, JLO, Jennifer Aniston, Winslet and many others. Angelina Jolie was in a beautiful gown in the arms of Brad.
